It's scene construction d00d! You can break the rules, but it helps if you know them first. All sorts of problems arise when trying to tell stories visually and studying how other people deal with issues can be of great benefit. It's not a bad excercise.

I read "copy it shot by shot - so that it looks just like the origional scene" from the kids post I just think he'd learn more from being able to play with the original script not the shot list. As for learning the rules I agree 100% but learning... oh hell I give up I guess your right.
