I want to start making short films and eventually make a couple of feature films down the road. I'm new to directing/making films. I would like some opinions on what the best camera for me would be. Thank you very much!

I have a similar question, a few months ago I visited Singapore and was able to browse the many photo/ camera shops in the city. I plan to return in a few months or maybe go to Hong Kong instead and pick up a decent film/video camera. Which brand/ model would you recommend. I will have a budget of maybe $5k.

My brother in law wishes to get into the commercial and promotional film making business. So I was wondering if the "Red" camera was available commercially. if so where and how much? I'm based on the East and West coasts so either is good for me.

Surely buying a camera like the Canon 5d mk 2 or the 7D then teaming it up with a external sound recorder would be the best option.

On the budget on 5k or so. If you had a little more the sony ex1 is a great camera, especially if you attached a 35mm adaptor, alternatively the sony ex3 has a detachable lense, so couple an adaptor (2/3 i think) and mount 35mm lenses on top. You don't loose a f stop like you would with a 35mm adaptor.

A Red one would set you back a bomb, full kit is lik 200k plus, sure the shell is lik 16k or something, the price you pay for going from 1080p to a 4K image i suppose

It is not always required that the subject of your picture also be the center of your picture. Move the subject off the center, by placing it on an imaginary grid on the lens, to get a dramatic photograph.
