What is the scariest movie of all time? I mean really scary, like horrifying. I won't say my pick because I want to see what people have to say first.

I don't know if I can pick one. But for me, movies that scared me (and some scared me as a kid, but not now!):

THE BIRDS
ALIENS
EVIL DEAD
TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE
NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD
THE EXORCIST
JAWS
CAPE FEAR (the original - Robert Mitchum was a pretty good bad guy)

I'm sure there are others, I just can't think of them.

Movies that scared me when I first saw them...
Alien 1: In the vents with the Alien, ive never jumped so far in my life. Ridley Scott kicks ass.

Event Horizon: For some reason I found this movie extremely scary. I really liked the story behind it. I thought it was a good idea. I cant wait for the directors cut where they actually show the ship when it goes back to hell.

The Exorcist: Very disturbing. The spider crawl down the stairs gets me everytime.

Pyscho: The end when Norman comes in with the knife with his moms clothes on scared the **** outta me when I saw it the first time.

What Lies Beneath: I really liked this movie, although alot of people hate it. I liked the build up and Harrison Ford's role was so completely different than anything he had done before this!

Thats all I can think off. Most movies don't really scare me though. I'd have to say Event Horizon and Alien are the only ones that really truly scared me.

All the Scream movies, I know what you did last summer, Jeepers Creepers, Valentine, Halloween. Those all suck. I hate them all. Slasher Flicks are gay.

"Mannequin 2" is hands down the scariest movie of all time...Seriously, worst than the first one! And that first one was SCARY!

Also any movie that has even a glimpse of a clown in it (ie- "IT", "Poltergiest")!

For me, "The Shining" is probably the scariest movie I've ever seen. Jack's performance is enough to creep me out, but you add Kubrick's visuals on top of it -- and those weird twins -- and it still scares the beejeezus out of me.

I forgot about EVENT HORIZON. Good addition! I should have added PSYCHO out of respect, but I didn't see it until I was much older and it didn't have the same fear-factor for me on TV in the daytime!

The Exorcist-The spider crawl down the stairs

AND

Jeepers Creepers-Okay, I know it isn't that scary, but that weird van with that weird horn....that noise is really really freaky. I would pee on my self if some big old van came bumping into my car in the middle of nowhere screaming this loud abstract horn at me. The ending was horribly cheap, though.

Well, I would have to say alot of movies that are
based on a Stephen King book are scary. Well most
of them are like:

The Shining,IT,Cujo,Tommyknockers. But there are lots of other movies like The Exorcist and the very first Nightmare on Elm st were pretty scary.
Has anyone seen the movie Black Christmas? I
have not seen it yet but someone told me it was really scary. I would just like to know if it is
worth renting?

Has anyone seen Suspiria?

I thought The Blaire Witch Project was scary when I saw it in theatres (Sneak preview at midnight, had to walk home through small forest-type thing afterwards Frown )

Also, The Ring was creepy as hell...loved it.

I would say any movie with Cathy Bates, but at the end of the day, Rosemary's Baby scared the piss out of me. Not so much beacause of any terror driven images, but the concept is just freaky

Here's a film idea...a bunch of Hippies walk around painting stuff, they stop, eat lunch, then find a magical...CAMEL - which they eat to stay alive.

EekWhen I was younger, The Freddy series, The Exorcist, and Psycho scare the hell out of me. Since then there hasn't been anything that really scare me...however Dragonfly didn't sit well with me but it is a great movie.

Are we talking overall movie? Because I thought the first ten minute of Darkness Falls was scary. The rest of the movie was complete and utter crap, but those first ten minutes were really good. If only the rest of the movie had been made like that... (I understand the studio forced the director to make it more like a conventional horror movie and thus they emasculated the damn thing.)
