Charging for a screening etc.

So I am currently starting a venture (producing, writing, directing). It is going to be my first feature length film. It is going to be distributed on the internet in parts.

It will somewhat be 12 interconnected short films that I can release on the internet as a web series.

I want to shoot the first season (or half of the film) with the equipment that I have and the volunteers that I have.

When the first season is done, I hope to rent out my local theatre and screen the film along with a Q&A and behind the scenes, with door prizes. I want to charge for the screening so that I can move on to getting better equipment for the next season and to pay my actors.

I am wondering about the legality of doing this. I guess it could be called a fundraiser, cause I'm going to ask for any donations at the end of the screening.

Is this legal, is it bad?

Also, my family owns a video store. If I burn a couple of DVD's of my film and put them out for rent. Is that legal?

It will be %100 original. Original music, writing, etc.

thanks for your help Big Grin

Would you care for a bit of the old "Ultra-Violence"?
