I am a Jr. in High School and I'm trying to think about collages and all that fun stuff.
I would like to have a career in the Film industry, but honestly, I am very naive about the thing. I've done some acting in plays, and taken a few acting classes over the years, but I have no I idea about actually working, in the real world, you know?
I love acting and I think I would like to purse that also, but I don’t want to limit myself to simply acting because I really enjoy the whole process. I'm even sure where to start. The right Colleges or majors, internships, hands on experience? I really have no clue. Also I don't know if this factors in at all but I would like to be in a field the would allow me to work with or around people, I do better in those kind of environments. So saying all that to say, any input would be much appreciated. thank you soooooo much (also I'm a native Californian, and I've read that there are some good schools here)And thanks again Smile

if you really like film making, maybe you might wanna try making movies since now..?
most universities will ask for portfolio so if you can start now, why not? experience is essential in this industry.

It's really good to start shooting some films... Of course, start to read more.
it might help you to have a wider sense of what films are and how are u good on what on filmmaking.

I talk more that I do mostly. But it's because I'm almost 35 years old, and started 5 years agoto study as a self taught. Only reading, writing. I want to do films that I really think it worth to be done.

Think before you do, plan it... and after that, you will start to BELIEVE on your story and on you... Then just do it, without thinking. Get invloved with nice people. Not the most "amazing and experienced professionals". They rarely will have time to help you to learn. They will do it on the Making Ofs. Watch them always after you watch a film.

I really want to make an amazing showreel. One by one the best I can. Enjoying it. You need to enjoy it to be done, but remember t's really suffering to write a screenplay. Some wise filmmaker said "write is hard, shoot is fun". Not a sentence, but there is something about it.

And most of the best schools won't ask you for a large showreel or large portfolio. It worths more to have one excelent film done anda valuable contribution on a project, intead of a bunch of things that could ony use space of your cv or portfoliothat some possible employer might read tinking he's wasting his time.

But this all I wrote above is me... You have to find your pace and think for yourself.

Here goes my tip to start well. Read the book ON FILMMAKING, from Alexander McKendrick. A must have. The guy was a genius.

Good luck!
