I want a shot where I want partially invisible man (as seen in Hollow man). For this to achieve, I have to take 2 shots, where camera should follow the same path and angles during both the shots. I am using DV camcorder as it is for a TV serial. Can anyone suggest me the system required for this to achieve. Is the technology called as "Rotoscoping"? Where from can I get such a setup/ system for TV productions?

and what part of hollow man? when he turns invisible, when it rains on him? when he's covered in blood?

I think Sijee needs two shots so that he can blend the character with the background.

You need a motion control rig for the camera, like what they used in LOTR. Its probably more expensive then I could imagine though...

Your best bet is to do it with a stationary camera. Just keep the camera in one position. I've done it before and it looks great.

Your next option is to set up the shot and keep the camera at a long shot to extreme long shot. Then, in after effects zoom in and fake any camera moves there. Downside: the resolution will look crappy... but it could be ok in the right context (such as a video screen, etc.)

The last option is to do rotoscoping which probably isn't an option due to extremely high cost.

One trick, which I've seen done, but never tried is to get the shot, locked down, no movement, etc. Then, use either a still camera (better resolution) or the video camera to get shots to either side of the main shot. Line these up next to each-other in AE, and pan across them.

that setup is pretty creative titanium, i'll have to try that when I get a chance.

Otherwise, if you need the shot to move, you might need to use a dolly track to get the exact same path and angles (don't pan or tilt with the tripod, that will just make things more complicated). The only thing tricky with the dolly idea is that you'd need a constant speed.

I first saw techniques like that at this site - he's got some pretty creative effects.
