Going in sept, to some low-profile art/film program at college.

Nothing of interest done yet, 'cause I ain't got no crew.

I'm working on it.

I have used both the GL1 and GL2 to film school and trip events. It really depends on what kind of filming you are planing to do. I brought the GL1 to Zion in Utah and it never failed me once.
The GL2 does have a lot of weird and wacky features that would do great with filming scenes -
such as the audio features. But for just filming ordinary projects the GL1 can do any thing the GL2 can do.

It's been a while since I touched a Gl-1, but I believe the CCD in the Gl-2 is a bit better. In my recent experiences the latitude of the Gl-2 has surpassed my expectations which weren't that high, but I don't remember being so content with the Gl-1. Given, I'm better at manipulating the image now but I do belive the CCD was improved upon quite a bit from the previous model.

Apparently, it does not hold a candle to the Panasonic (AGDVX-100) which I have yet to test drive (But have requested as the weapon of choice from a producer I'll be working with soon).

I would concur that the Gl-2 is probablly a better choice than the Xl-1s for a student filmmaker who can't afford the extra gadgets.

Nota "Can't believe he admitted contentment with ~5 stops latitude" Mono
