Low Cost Production Insurance?

Does anyone know of any places that offer cheap production insurance for low budget films, especially shorts? The places I've been calling have been quoting me more than my budget in some cases!

You should give these guys "Wildcard Productions" a call (818) 237-5630.

We used them for my last short and they were awesome. My short had practically no budget what-so-ever, and when I called around for insurance I was shocked! We were so worried we wouldn't find insurance that we could afford, but believe it or not there are actually places out there that understand what low budget filmmaking is.

Good Luck,
Mel

Well, two people, both from L.A., both with one post, giving only one option of insurance, might look like blatant advertising, which it probably is.

But if the company gives good rates, then I applaud it.

Most of us have probably never thought about acquiring insurance, but I believe there will come a day that we'll need it more than we'd hope to ever have to.

If you really had no budget why did you need insurance?

I think we are talking about two different worlds. If your budget is only a few hundred or a few thousand dollars I really don't think production insurance is a viable option.

Yeah, it's best to avoid the hassle and cost of insurance for as long as possible. I have $1 million worth of insurance automatically on all my school shoots, but to be honest, you can do all the same stuff without it.

It is only when you start casting union actors, renting equipment, getting city permits, or shooting in locations that know what to ask you for, that you need insurance.
