Has anyone purcahsed or seen any really nice gel kits? Mainly I'm looking for a nice "frame" not one of the chincy fold up ones with the clips on the corners.

gel kits are just gels, they come in sets of a variety certain kind, or in a group of the most bascially used ones.

the frames are separate and can get expensive depending on the material they're made out of. you can just makes frames yourself really.

have loose gels with clips is pretty hand though, since you can keep it on the light and just move the light instead of having to move the light, the gel stand, the gel frame, etc.

thanks for the quick reply, these actually are for checkout to students at my school, so I can't really handmake it. Since most of the kids have never used gels before the kit has t obe easy enough to assemble and use without breaking. (Our current ones are flimsy and lame). WE currently use the top 2 frames here but I was looking for something more like This, that clamps down. Except they need to connect to the pin on the light kits. So I was just wondering if anyone had purchased a frame/kit and was happy with it. Though after reading your post Rfranco I think I'm going to look for hte frame and gels seperately.

To my knowledge, no one makes a frame like that for the lowel tota/omni lights. Could it be something you make/have made? Or you can't just buy a bunch of c-47s and tell them to clip the gel to the barn doors?

I'll probobly end up just making something. I don't think were renting the light kits anymore anyways b/c the folks keep melting the knobs and cords on hte lights, not to mention breaking the glass protective tubes. So, If I cant find one that fits hte Lowells, or buy something and modify it to fit the Lowells, I'll just make something outright. Clothespins might work though Joren, I'll check into it, thanks!
