So does anybody know any good movies shot on Super8 that are widely available or online?

I just bought a camera off of eBay and I'd like to see what works!

Well, there's the Zapruder Film of the Kennedy assassination.

I doubt you'd easily find any feature films shot on 8mm - perhaps films that used 8mm in parts - but whole films on 8mm is difficult.

Your best bet is to look for short films.

If you can pick up the criterion collection of Richard Linklater's "Slacker" you can see two of his first films, which were shot on 8mm. Both of them are experimental. I think it could be an interesting look if you really get a grasp on how 8mm reacts to given lighting situations.

super 8 is awsome to mess with and use, but its loud, has no sound (not a problem if you have a boom mic and a recorder set up), and can cost alot to transfer to video/digital format for editing.

there is a feature film called Sleep Always which was shot all on Super 8... I think you can buy it on video somewhere on the internet... In any case, Super 8 is great to play around with, and is really easy compared to other film formats. Yes, it is more expensive than video, but you get images that you can only get with super 8.

I think there are some scenes shot overlooking a cliff in Natural Born Killers that utilize Super8mm. I think they actually uses cut down 35mm negative film for the shot. If you want to learn more about negative Super8mm, do a Google search fro pro 8mm. It's a company in Burbank, CA that specializes in film stock cover ASA ranges from 50-500. They even advertise package deals that supply film and processing for an entire feature.

While this sounds amazing, I agree with the thread in that, Super 8mm would be a taxing format for an entire feature - especially with HD. But that's another thread.

For now, happy filmmaking!

Also, I was able to get my Super8mm film (reversal film) processed by WalMart. I had to do the transfer myself... But that's part of the fun.

I don't know of many feature films, but there are plenty of experimental stuff out there. Just do searches on YouTube and Vimeo and stuff.
Also, Super 8 is a ton of fun to mess around with. Especially the color film. Go get a bottle of chlorox and a tooth brush and have fun making all sorts of patterns and stuff.
Also, it gets really interesting when you start processing your own film. I can give you a list of chemicals if you want to try it out.
