Hey everyone, im trying to decide what would be the best dv camera to buy and i've been looking at the Sony VX2100, Sony PD170, or the Panasonic DVX100. I've been hearing a lot of good things about the new DVX100 but i've had a lot of experience filming with the Sony VX2000 and have never used the DVX100 or the PD170. I was wondering what was upgraded in the Sony VX2100 from the VX2000 and also what you think would be the best and most user friendly of these camera to buy? This would be my first camera so I would like to get something generally easy to use but also something that has a good quality picture. Any help is appreciated.

I have to say that I am really pleased with the results I have gotten with the Pana. Some really nice images and I haven't even scratched the surface of what this camera is capable of. My mentor swears by Sony but the lens is a bit narrow for my tastes. Otherwise, Sony makes amazing cameras and my first was a Sony. I don't think you can go wrong. Ultimately it is not the camera but the mind behind it. Still, the new Pana that just got released would be my pick. I have the previous model and I love it. I guess this really didn't help at all did it?

If you decide to go Sony (which you should if you want easy-to-use), go with the PD170, not the VX2100. They're basically the same camera but the 170 has professional features like XLR, so you're not limited to using lousy Sony microphones (especially the one on the VX2100, which had a tendency to hiss on previous models).
