I am directing s student movie in a Community College. It's supposed to be a group project. In a class of 12 people, only 6 people show up. Even in that 6 people, they split into 2 groups. Each group complaint about other group. I am not spending my time on Creativity thinking. I am wasting my time on hearing people's complaints and movie is not getting anywhere. This is my first student movie as a director.I am worried and I don't know what I am supposed to do now.

Is this common in film industry?

Not in the film industry, but far too often, yes, this is the nature of student projects, and also occurs on no/low pay projects as well.... People who do it only for a grade (or for the free food) are the worst people to have on a crew.

Buckle down, dismiss the rest, and work hard with the best of your classmates.

Best of luck.
