sorry to make two threads like this, but im pretty sure this'll be the last = ]. ok, so i had settled on getting the canon gl2 and was looking around to make sure that it was the one i wanted and stumbled acrose the Panasonic DVC30. they are almost the exact same price (i actually found the panasonic for a bit cheaper than the canon) and i'm having trouble digging up comparisons between the two.

so, has anyone used these cameras and can offer some insight to which is better? thanks! = ]

Nice find. She's a beauty... and at a great price!

16:9 mode will suck on the DVC30 due to its relatively low pixel count per CCD. That, and there's no memory card still photo function. But it's still a great camera and a toss-up between it and the GL2. You gotta ask yourself though--is it really worth the $500 difference?

I'm telling you right now that with color correction and all the niceties that come in post production, GL2 footage can be made to look absolutely fantastic. I'm sure its the same with the DVC30, but I don't know how much of a difference there is in that area.

For the same price, go with the GL2. Far better optics.
