Hi everyone. My friends and I are beginning our World War 2 movie, and are discussing some effects for it. We've tried many ways to creat a bullet impact on a body with blood bursts, powder, etc. Does anyone have any help to create a quick and easy method for making nice body hits? Any help is greatly appreciated.
When I did my war movie, I shot in black and white, which meant that the bullet impacts could be any color. So to do impacts on bodies, I padded up my friends, covered whatever area they were to be hit in with flower and then shot them with a paintball gun. Dangerous yes, but effective....just make sure you're a good shot.
We can't stop here, it's bat country!

if you liked how the bullethit effect looked on the lost soldiers for this site you can do what they did. All did they was use a mad cat firecracker. light it and had the person run. bam.. looks nice

On the Steven Speilergberg Saving Private Ryan DVD it shows a few clips from movies he made when he was a kid. War movies. He would take a piece of wood (about 5 feet long maybe) then bury it undersome dirty (you gotta make it like a teeter totter so you put a rock in the middle under the wood. Then you cover it with dirt, have a guy run over it and dirt will kick up. I think thats how they did it. It's early right now for me, so I don't even know whats going on right now

just the normal DVD, I actually don't have the DVD, I have the BOX set in which one tape is the movie, then the second is a documentary on the film which shows clips from Steven's early teenager films

My friend and I want to shoot a war movie at a regional park. We're not using guns (i think) only a fake knife and we're going to do it where there's no one around. We also want to dig trenches.Do I need permission to shoot there or should I just go shoot and hope for the best.
