You know the lights I'm talking about. You use them for working outside like yardwork, car work, construction. Its a tripod with two big bright lights on top. Was curious if these lights would work for video ?? Or can I use the tripod an change the lights or just the bulbs ??

mucho thanks

Here's the deal: Those lights will work for video. And the bulbs that come in the ficture will white balance. They are not standard 3200k tungsten balanced, however. You can put 3200k bulbs in them if you like. They're the same bulbs lowel uses for their tota lamps. Make sure you use the same wattage (normally 500 watts). Each bulb costs about ten bucks from a video supply store.

I was going to say any light works... it's all about white balance, filters, and gels baby.

Ok thanks. I found a place in town that sells the tripod with two lights on top and the cables for $59 for the whole setup. Plus I have orange an blue gels already.

Sears Automotive Department sells the tripod (a pretty good one, too) and the light pair for $19.95 (500W) or $29.95 (1000W). Throw in a $50 power inverter and you could run them off your car engine battery and make yourself "mobile".
