I've been looking into buying a digital video converter for my eMac but I have no idea what to get. I need something that would convert everything. For example, how do I convert an 8mm film to digital? What kind of equipment do I need other than the converter?

for 8mm, just do a poor man's telecine, project it on a screen and videotape the screen, and then digitize it.

you're not converting any kind of film into digital at home.

taping a projection will look pretty bad.

to change analog video into digital, they have converter boxes at any video/electronics place.
