jib question

so I'm a clueless writer with a technical question about cameras...

I'm producing a student film where the director wants to shoot a couple shots with a jib. We're shooting on a Panasonic HDVX 100, to which we're attaching a 35mm adaptor and Nikon lenses. The problem is, one of the director's friends told him the camera would be too heavy to put on a jib.

Does anyone know if there's any sport of jib that would support the camera's weight? Or should I tell the director to start cutting shots?
