Can anyone tell me the difference between the "A" version and the "B" version of the Panasonic AG-DVX100?

Well one determining factor is the time-lapse option that's available in the "A" and not in the "B". The "B" has a better layout (menu, as well as button) and is supposed to be a little better in low light, producing a cleaner image etc.
