I have access to rent the two following cameras:
Kit#1 - Sony DSR300 DVCAM
Kit#2 - Sony UVW100 Betacam SP
==============
My question is, I own a GL2 but since I won't have access to lights for this shoot, should I go with one of the above? This film will be projected on a big screen, so I want a crisp image when its projected, and I know the GL2, if not lighted properly doesn't look that great. Is it worth the money to rent a better camera since I don't have the cash or time for lights, or will there not be a big difference between GL2 and the above. Also which of the two above is more prefered, and can they both be edited on a Dual G4 editing system, via Firewire.
Thanks.

I'd go with the DVCAM. I feel like that's a more dependable format.

Know any place where I can read up on the differences of the two formats, maybe look at screenshots?

i'd say shoot with your GL. and spend the money that would use on the cam rental on lighting/grip instead.

I would also go with GL2, excellent cammie. Improvise on lighting, buy some halogen work lights (500w, that`s quite enough Smile or whatever suits you - it can`t be much (or any) more expensive then renting a camera - at least I think. If nothing else, borrow lights from someone.

Nothing will give you great image if you don`t shoot it properly - so it doesn`t matter if you go with 35mm or VHS-C Smile

If it wasn't clear before, the shot will be one long take with a steadi-cam and will be impossible to light, because it will be downtown during the day. The camera I can rent for extremely cheap, much less then what it would cost to power the lights, have people move them during the shoot etc.
I know the GL2 is a great camera, I use it all the time and know what it is capable of. But my dilemma was should I use another camera of higher quality because I can't have a LIGHTING set up, or should I just use the GL2 because I won't see a difference between the Sony DVCAM and the GL2 quality when its projected onto a bigger screen.
I hope that clears up, and I can get some response here. I know it depends on how you shoot, I know how to shoot thanks. I am asking a question about projection and quality difference, not about going out and renting/borrowing lights.
Thanks.

I think beta would be the way to go with this. Better looking image and a little more latitude IMO. If you check out adamwilt.com , it'll have some comparisons in formats, but no pictures.
