We recently got a 250 dollar budget to shoot a short comedy film. So far we have been doing great. But there is this one scene that I wrote that needs a cereal box with our own design on it. I don't know how to go about putting the design that we made on photoshop onto a cereal box, and make it look good. I was thinking about making my own cereal box out of cardboard, but that means I would also have to make the sides and the back. Here is my design on photoshop (low quality): here. It's only regular paper size and I have no idea what the size of cereal boxes are. I DON'T EVEN HAVE ONE IN MY HOUSE! So I can't measure one. My plan now is to put the camera on a tripod, buy Corn Pops, film it, and in post production, put that cereal box design on there. But I'm afraid it's going to look too bad, and not turn out right. Anyone have any ideas?

if you buy a box of cereal, measure it, print out high resolution images on cardboard, buy some wood glue and pimp out the box on all six sides, provided you dont do any closeups it should look fine.

you could try it in post, but in that case I'd paint the box completely blue/green so as to have green screening. That way, if someone's holding the box, when you place the design, it wont go over their hands

I'd try to do it as a practicle effect, like Paul is talking about, with the glue. Doing CG for this kind of thing ends up being harder to get right, and dosn't look as good without significant time and effort. You'd need the shading just right, for the shadows and highlights.

It might be possible to have your design printed at a place like Kinko's on card stock, which is thicker, and would be easier to glue on than paper.

yeah, I'd definitely go with the card stock. as long as you get the dimensions right, it should be just fine. That's what I'd do.

If all else fails, I would paint a cereal box bright green, key it out in After Effects but apply a four point tracker to it.

yeah dude, I'd do it via printing. You could even print it in one big piece, like real cereal boxes are made. That would look really nice.
