I've got an older sony miniDV camcorder I want to put in standby and not auto shut off in 4 minutes. Any tips?

I believe it's a TRV-8.

Hmm....maybe leaving the cassette door open? Yeah it could collect stuff in it, but I think that would keep it on. Not sure though.

that would be cool, but the door is on the bottom and I need to have the camera on a tripod. Tripod+Door open = impossible.

Thanks, though.

There should be a menu option that shuts off that feature (auto shut off).

I downloaded a pdf manual and it didn't say anything.

...Then I removed the tape and it hasn't shut off yet. I think I got it.

Sony put this in as a safety feature. When you have a tape in and the heads are spinning and ur not recording, its busy gumming up your video heads. Take out the tape....safety feature not needed because no tape to gum. LOL Theres the reason for it if anyone cared to know.

So yes no tape=unlimited on
