Read the book, saw the movie. The book, while not written extremely well, had a good story with some very nice character development that really made you care about the people you were reading about. The movie, however, might have been one of the worst films I've seen all year. It was done so carelessly I almost couldn't believe my eyes. There was absolutley NO character development, the acting was shoddy (except for Jeremy Irons, he was ok), and the writing was HORRENDOUS. They tried to cram a whole epic into about a 80 minutes. As a result, two of the biggest main characters were in it for a grand total of about 20 minutes. I could go on for hours about how much I hated this movie, but I'll spare you the wall of text. Save your money and read the book.
Never read the book, but I knew this movie was going to suck.
Thanks for confirming my foresight
Sorry u had to waste money on it.

Kyle, it was written a few years ago (by a 15 year old, no less) so there can't be one from 1981. From what I hear, the book sucks. Poor writing and it stole from star wars, LOTR, and basically anything in the fantasy/sci fi genre. The movie looks even worse.

I told my friend who is obsessed with the book that the movie looked like complete s*** and she got pissed at me. Then after watching it she told me I was right.
i dont know what the movie is called, but it was Dragon something from 1981. I watched it the other day, not really but the parts with the animated dragon were cool. Plus the idea of sorcerers.

I just came back from watching the film and i have to say it was really pathetic
Most of the acting was pretty bad, and they compleatly changed the story taking whole cities and charactures out and shoving things in random places.
Even if the story line had actually fited properly the fight scenes were badly done, even in a little sword fight that lasted like 1 minute they just used heaps of short cuts and blurs to mask the fact that they couldn't stage fight, in many of the shots where they actually zoomed out to show both people in full you could see really easily it was just sped up really fast after the charactures had slow done the moves step by sttep, this can be done well but it looked like an amiture had just clicked 'speed up by 50%' in windows movie maker.
The sgi and specail effects of the dragon were very good though, thanks to Weta workshops who worked on Lord of The Rings.
Overall I think this film was a very weak atempt to make somthing out of a good book.
Oh and there was a few mistakes Like eragons in the forest hunting and hes got a arrow in his bow, then a 3 secound shot of the deer then the next shot theres no arrow in his bow and he draws one from his quiver and stuff like that.
Well yea anyway the film was pethetic, good book though.

Can you belive how much they tried to cram into a 90 minute movie though? The dragon grew to full size in a matter of 15 seconds!
