Favorite Movie Genre And Why

Hi folks I was just curious about your favorite movie genre and why? Have your favorite movies changed with age?
For me my favorite genre are now Sci-fi and comic strip, especially more intelligent sci-fi such as Sunshine. I have gone off comedies somewhat, especially gross out comedies. I loved Watchmen and Iron Man.
What about you guys and girls?

I'm still a fan of comedies. I like to watch a movie and come out feeling good, having a smile, and most the time i find myself in the theaters nowadays I'm with a date so I'm looking for a laugh. I must also find myself agreeing with Brian, comic strip movies are finally reaching their true potential, Batman, Spiderman, X-Men (1), Watchmen, and yes even Ironman. I did go out and see Coraline (in 3-D) when it was out in theaters and found that it was also entertaining, but hey Henry Selick is a great director.

I too believe my taste in movies has changed considerably. I prefer action films to comedies and slasher movies. Although I have to admit, I never saw the attraction of the nightmare on elm st movies, ever. I loved Inception and the ending still whirls around in my head, was it a dream?

My new 9.2 channel surround sound receiver arrived on Friday and after wiring it all up was about to watch Shutter Island again, but in 9.1 when my subwoofer popped. Now I have no bass whilst my uncle strips it in an attempt to fix it. Argggg

Subwoofer.

Only have 1 sub at the moment. May upgrade to 2 8" subs soon instead of 1 larger one as now.

For me its Sci-fi and action adventure. I hate musicals and have gotten bored with gross out comedies. Love Tarantino, especially Pulp Fiction.

Tarantino all the way. Pulp Fiction and Jackie Brown are movie gold.

What are those Front Height channels? Are those the Voice Of God channels I read about in Blu-ray.com? If so how do they work and are they effective?
I only have 5.1, but have been pondering 7.1.

Yes, VOG channel. It is less directional than the other channels and adds ambiance. It works best with helicopter and rain. the rain scene at the funeral in Watchmen was unbelievable. As was the battle scene in War Of The Worlds. Highly recommended.

It is still Lossless, and is no gimmick I assure you. When you watch a movie and the rain kicks in or a jet/ helicopter goes over head, the result is unbelievable and totally realistic. If I honestly thought it was gimmicky I would not allow it in my HT, believe me.

I will watch Sunshine for the god knows how many times since I got the Blu-ray 2 years ago. Absolutely love this movie. Very underrated and under appreciated. If you like Sci-fi then watch this..

Tried to watch Sunshine but could not disable the god damned picture in picture video commentary on my Blu-ray. Apparently the most recent update on the PS3 (v.350) screwed things up, because of the 3D. Now I have to wait for the next update that hopefully will rectify the situation.

Gladiator looked unbelievable. Like a completely new movie. No more notorious disappearing arrows or moquito noise crawling across the screen. Absolutely stunning. At last the visuals match the stomping audio.
