That's right muther ****ers, I was able to watch that **** *** movie Training Day. I rented it awhile back and watched it with my girlfriend. Bad mother ****ing choice.Five minuters into the movie, she had me turn it off. I understood the use of the language, she did not.
So I was flipping the peice of **** television the other day and came across that same mother ****ing movie on USA. Those n****** cut the audio every time Denzel swears so I was able to sit through the whole ******* movie without my girlfriend getting upset.
It was a great movie, but for some cursing to that point is just too distracting.
Schwartzenneger(sp) movies have a lot of unnecessary swearing that bothers me. Total recall especially. I'm all for a good cuss word, but it can be distracting. This is also one of my major gripes with a lot of independent films.

I dont think the swearing was unneccasary in training day. I think thats how Denzels character was thats how he acted ya know. I think it was good it gave me a better feeling and more beliveable image of his character. Thats just my opinion though.

I haven't seen the unedited version of Total Recall in a long time. Although that scene where he's drilling the black mutant dude and he yells F*** YOUUUU! was pretty unncessary. It was however redeemed when they replaced the F word with "SCREWWWWWW YOUUUUUUUU" in the edited version. Much more funny in my opinion hehehe. =p
I dont find swear words distracting in films (only because I swear ever second of my life, along with every person I know)
ONly time swearing is stupid in movies is when they use it once or two times in Pg.13 films, and its always the same way...and its stupid. Thats one reason I usually overlook PG.13 films, cause they are stupid.
other times swearing doesnt work is with bad acting, it always sounds forced and dumb.
I hate swearing in studentfilms cause kids can't act, therfor it sounds gay. I'd rather hear funny swears outta student films;
SON OF A MOTHERLESS GOAT!
oh, and I never udnerstood that quote "King Kong, aint got shi t on me!" What does that mean? Is he implying King Kong's HUGE ASSED balls aren't nothing compared to the balls he has? Metaphorically speaking.

Kyle, "King Kong ain't got Sh!t on me!" probably refers to his destructive nature/ impowerment he has over people with the use of fear and aggression. I'm not sure, but that's what I assumed.
Profanity should be used just like lighting or props or anything else in a film. It should be there for a specific reason and not just used.
If the movie is about rival gangs who are at war, then it would be just as inappropriate to have lines such as:
Illiterate Gang Member #1: Pardon me sir, but one of your professional ladies of the evening mistakingly found her way into an area that is commonly known as belonging to my associates.
Illiterate Gang Member #2: Why, I didn't know that. However, since this is America and generally speaking, people are allowed certain basic freedoms, my female acquaintance should be allowed to peruse the public streets at her leisure.
IGM #1: [pulls out a knife] I'm sorry to disagree with you, therefore I am going to take this very sharp cutting utensil and attempt to surgically puncture several lethal areas upon your person.
IGM #2: [pulls out a gun] Your response is typical of someone of your stature, in that you have brought the wrong equipment to this disagreement which requires a fire arm.
Of course, no one would ever write that drivel except me. But that's my two cents on profanity!
Most of the time cussing is used to cover up bad acting/ bad writing. Now if a guy is about to get smacked by a car and yells, "Oh, Sh*t!" I tend to be a little lenient. However, most movies where people cuss for no reason in the middle of a conversation is just a lack of skill. That's my opinion.

I think, for the most part the swearing in Training Day did fit. One movie that it didn't fit was Confidence. Every other word was ****. "I didn'r know you wanted me to go to the ****ing grocery store." "Why the **** not?" "I don't ****ing know!" "Well you should have a ****ing clue, you ****less ****."
That my friends is too much, especially when it is suppossed to be sophisticated conartists.

hey Mark, if you could write a 4 page script about women of the night wandering onto rival gang turf, with that dialogue I'd gladly film it, that is, if someone already didn't get dibs on your work

Nah, no one has dibs on it. Let me see what I can do. I'm in the middle of editing a documenary right now, but I might be able to throw something together pretty quick. If you think it sucks too bad, feel free to re-write all you want.
