Blu-Ray SUCKS!

Blu-ray don't suck, however the fact that they throw in useless discs does.
I purchased the Tron/ Tron Legacy double pack in a collectible Identity Disc Packaging. Unfortunately they also threw in the DVD copy/ digital copy and 3D Blu-ray copy. What a waste, if they had just included the 2 movies maybe it would have been $35 and not $70. Don't be ramming 3D down our necks.

I ordered the exact same packaging from amazon. In the end I canceled, went with the individual BD's and purchased the Identity disc display model. I got the discs that I wanted and it still worked out cheaper.

I wish that the average Joe would understand that putting a movie on Blu-ray automatically makes the visuals look like a Pixar movie. Blu-ray is a medium, If the movie was originally shot with a lot of grain, then that is how it should appear on Blu-ray and not digitally scrubbed until faces look like wax.

Then again, I wish some studios would put more attention on some of their releases, especially catalog titles. Studios such as Disney lavish attention on their titles, however Warner Brothers often just throw their titles out without even cleaning them up before releasing them.

Agreed that Disney really look after their Animated title. However we have seen very few of their catalog live action movies. I would love to see Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown and Dusk Till Dawn released soon so that I can see how they look. Tron and Tron legacy did look great though.

Warner were always my LEAST favorite studio as far as Blu-ray was concerned. They always seemed to simply recycle old masters for their Blu-ray titles. They used low bit rate VC1 encodes and lossy audio. Things have begun to improve, however. They are using Lossless audio for all but their TV programs. They are now utilizing the AVC encode (the Town was the first)although they still need to up their bit rate levels. But as a whole, they are getting better.

It's good to see that WB is making an effort now with it's older catalog titles. Casablanca, Wizard Of Oz, Blade Runner and the upcoming Ben Hur. If enough people praise them for the work they did on restoring these titles maybe they will begin using these as their benchmark for restorations.
