So let me get this straight... the blu-ray copy of Sherlock Holmes that I netflixed (says rental version) has 20 minutes of previews that I can't skip or get to the main menu. Mercifully it'll let me fast forward.
But when I get to the main menu there is only an option to play the film and settings? No chapter selection?
And my stupid blu-ray player won't remember where I stopped a movie the last time I was playing? What the heck is this? Why do they kill good features. I have to fastforward to get back to where I left off. What is this? VHS?
I agree, I bought that movie and had to skip through the 5 previews since the top menu or title button won't work in this disc, or any other. My copy does include the scene selection, just between the settings and the special features button.
I used to have a samsung player and it didn't remember where you left off, Im glad the ps3 I use now does remember.
Anyway the picture quality is the best I've seen so far, bluray might suck at things but it simply looks great.
I think Blu-ray is the best thing since sliced bread. I don't rent them so cannot vouch for rental copies. I recently purchased the Blade Trilogy through a friend in Canada for $5 CDN each and all I can say is wow. There may not be any extras on these discs but the image and dtsHDMA 5.1 audio is unbelievable.

I too love the Pixar Movies on Blu-ray. I have only been getting them as Steelbooks though so will have to wait until November before I get my hands on Toy Story 1&2 along with Toy Story 3 and Finding Nemo. Can't wait to see what FN looks like on my 52" HDTV.

Blu-ray doesn't suck, it rocks, but 3D Sucks. All that outlay (3D ready HDTV, 3D ready Receiver, 3D ready Blu-ray player) and still no available software unless you pay for a HDTV/ BD3D Player bundle. What a rip. 3D = Epic FAIL

There might be a chance that rental companies "rework" the bluray or have a special "rental version" rather than having the actual dvd that you would get from the store itself. That's just me, but I wont put it past the distributor to do stuff like that.

That is EXACTLY what happens. Many studios are now releasing rental only discs that have no extras other than loads of trailers to promote the studios upcoming theatrical and home releases. Makes perfect business sense. I hate having to sit through countless previews before your Blu-ray starts (Disney are the main offender here)especially when you cannot skip them...Arrrgggg

I was out of the country when Toy Story 3 was showing so cannot wait to get this on Blu-ray on November 2nd. All my friends said it was easily the best of the 3. Hopefully Finding Nemo will be out as well in November.

I too cannot wait to get Toy Story 3 on Blu-ray. I deliberately held off getting TS1&2 because my mother in law was going to get me the trilogy on Steelbook from Canada. Just found out that Disney are cheaping out and getting Iron Paks instead. Oh well still gonna get them, love these movies. Anything by Pixar gets my vote.

Blu-ray is THE best thing to happen to home entertainment. DVD was nice and all, but Blu-ray takes it up to the next level. All you disbelievers out there I dare you to watch Watchmen and then disagree.

Received this from fox.com yesterday. Haven't had a chance to watch any of the movies yet, but looking forward to having an Alien fest sometime this week, time permitting.

at samuals if you find the right places you can download full HD movies with HD audio. The question is, do you have the hardware that is capable of outputting the full range and if you're still young enough to be able to capture the high and low frequencies..

I have a THX certified Network receiver and 7.1 surround sound full range speakers. I just prefer having physical media on my shelf.

I believe that Digital Downloads can be good if you are not sure if you will like a particular movie. But if it is a movie you like, I strongly believe physical media (Blu-ray) is better. Full 1080P picture and 24 bit dts HD Master Audio can't be beat.
