Has anyone seen this?

I just finished watching it. It's absolutely wonderful. I'm becoming more and more fond of Alfonso Cuaron's directing. Some scenes in this movie were just amazing, mostly the long takes that let scenes unfold so naturally.

I highly recommend this to everyone, especially fans of Cuaron or anyone who enjoyed Children of Men.

It's on my must see list. The only problem is, my must see list is 212 movies long.

Yeah I just watched this after reading the CoM thread a while back, and hearing how it was really good. And it was, I can't really compare it to CoM so much though, because they give two completely different feelings. I agree the long takes were awesome and really gave it a natural feeling, which Cuaron seems to be quite good at.

This should be required viewing for filmmakers. It reinvigorated my love for film when I was starting to get bored with it. It's like chicken noodle soup for the filmmaker's soul.

Actors? What actors?

The long takes reminded me at times of Stranger than Paradise, but this is clearly the superior film in terms of straight up quality. Wonderful direction, as the subject matter is handled wonderfully, treating everything in a very real way, basically saying f*ck you to the FCC. The writing is clever and imaginative and I loved the voice over, giving a glimpse into each character's future, culminating with the final scene *spoiler* where the two young men meet up again. WOnderful film. Again, although a superior film to STranger than Paradise and very similar in style, I have to say I enjoy Stranger than Paradise a bit more, if only for the "character" so to speak of the film itself. (That is, the imperfections are what make it better.)

I saw it several years ago when it was first released, so I don't remember many details but I do remember loving it. I saw Children of Men because of that movie - I will watch anything that Cuaron makes.
