Part of making an independent film is asking people for help and hopefully, they’ll be part of your crew. This usually requires the person to show people their script. My question is: Have you ever written a script, planned to direct it, showed it to someone, and then had that idea taken from you? A short film requires a lot of planning and If things don’t go as planned, you might have to postpone production. Has this ever happened to anyone? I was looking for a producer before and I showed it to a guy I knew for a year and he flaked out on me. I doubt he’s going to take my idea but I also showed it to a person who knows a lot about film. I don’t really know him well. We’ve only met a couple of times. He also flaked out on me. Thoughts?

Short film ideas are a dime a dozen. I honestly wouldn't worry about it. Feature ideas are a different story, though.
