the new coen film. GREAT tom hanks, average coen film.

I would give it a 8 out of 10 if it would be another director...but I did expect more from a coen movie. Gorgeous cinematography, good acting, funny characters and stylish movie. Enough for me after all.

Interesting was the chat after the screening with Joel coen. He told us that originally, their friend barry sonnenfeld asked them to write the script for him. Sonnenfeld wanted to direct but he had suddenly other projects going on. the studio then asked the coens to direct it and they agreed. Basically it was a job-film. I kinda wish they go back to the roots soon and develop own stories againSmile

Besides that, he talked a lot about his past. Interesting is, that they NEVER EVER had to pitch an idea to anyoneSmile makesme jealous

How do you get to go to these screenings and meet these filmmakers? I always hear people talking about going to screenings and I was just wondering how you got to do this!

well, most of these screenings are NYU Director series screenings. Ex NYU film students visite the campus on a weekly basis to present their new films and talk about them. Besides that, new York has a LOT of free screenings around the town. Sometimes, there are people in front of the cinemas who give you a phone number and if you call, you just might get some tickets for a free preview. And you never know who will be thereSmile

Bull S**T!!

Not only did Barry Sonnenfeld wimp out of The Ladykillers, but he also wimped out of the upcoming Lemony Snicket movie! Jeez, Barry Sonnenfeld has to be one of the most bizarrely insecure filmmakers out there. Same with Bryan Singer...they repeatedly pass up great projects to direct stuff like Men In Black and X-Men!

(Not that it's entirely a bad thing, however... Wink)

Good stuff

I was suprised, it was alot better than I expected. Marlon Wayans was hilarious and Tom Hanks was funny as hell (im not a big Hank's fan, but this was an exception) Im just wondering what imdb's gonna put down for "memmorable quotes" since most of the great lines in the film were "stupid ass mother****er" (or something like that hahaha) It was overall a good offbeat comedy.
