How can you list Barry Lyndon as one of your favorite movies? I've seen every single Kubrick film and by far Barry Lyndon is thee worst. Anyone else agree here?

I don't know exactly what it is that you're saying in your message, it's a little unclear. What I do gather is that you're a Kubrick fan who likes all of his films EQUAL. This seems really strange to me being that no film, especially his, can be called upon as EQUALS. You cannot compare his early works of Fear and Desire and Killer's Kiss as equals of Clockwork or Full Metal Jacket. There is no way!!! It's a completely foolish observation saying this. Kubrick started off as a nobody and with lots of hard work blossomed into a great filmmaker. Nobody gave a ratâ™s ass about his first films and you know what they STILL don't aside from hard-core cinefiles. Why? Because frankly, they suck. There's no point on dwelling on them other than to observe the beginnings of his career and style. Each film showcases more and more of who âKubrickâ was as he himself discovered it.

Now I would also like to say that more than likely Iâ™ve seen more of his films than you have. Iâ™ve watched his very first film-shorts, Day of the Fight,The Flying Padre, and Fear and Desire. Which are absolutely unavailable. I owe this directly to James Harris the producer of Paths of Glory, The Killing, and Lolita. With whom I had the privilege of discussing Kubrickâ™s work and his experiences with him. This is of course part bragging and part saying that I am a true fan of Kubrick, but canâ™t swallow everything that comes down the pipe. Nor should you.

Geez man what is with you? When did I EVER say that a person's first film isn't any good? That wasn't what I was saying at all. Can you read?

In simple terms I was saying that Kubrick's first films are not all equal, his first ones weren't very good, and that you shouldn't treat his movies as being complete equals.

As far as first time movies go. Duh, even geniuses sometimes donâ™t come out with a classic movie right out the gate. Reservoir Dogs by the way is Tarentino's Second feature. His first was My Best Friend's Birthday. He later denied even making it.

People can argue this till the sun explodes. But in my opinion, considering "My Best Friends Birthday" was never complete, I don't consider it a film. You can buy it on the net but it's got really crappy quality and sound and has missing scenses (that were never filmed) therfor Reservoir Dogs his is first film.

And I don't think Tarantino has ever denied making My Best Friend's Birthday, I mean, he's IN THE FILM.

Plus it was never distributed or anything for profit, matter of fact, I think its in the public domain.

Yeah I know what you're saying Kyle...I was just trying to get technical with Hill because he's getting on my nerves. In Wensley Clarkson's book "Quentin Tarantino: Shooting from the Hip". He states that Quentin felt so bad about the quality of this film that he denied making it so that the studio wouldn't change their mind about him directing Reservoir Dogs.

My question to you though is if I make 5 almost complete student full length feature films and then I make a fully finaced professional film, is that my 6th film or my first? And honestly does it REALLY mater?

I guess that depends on what your opinion on a "feature film is"

To me a "feature film" is totally seperate from a "student feature film" ya know? To me a "feature film" is something u make when you have a budget, real actors, good equipment, ect. But thats just my opinion.

Whereas a student feature can be feature length but not really considered a "Feature"
