big fish and eternal sunshine of the spotless mind - these two films had such a profound effect on me. they really inspired me as a filmmaker and as a person like no others have before and changed my life in a way. anyone else felt strongly about either of these movies? i just cant ever stop thinking about them...

I felt strongly about Big Fish. I was so dissapointed at how lame this movie was. Not only was I bored to tears but I wasn't moved by any of the tall tales. It might be of a completely different genre, but, if you want to see a magical movie watch The Adventures of Baron von Munchauscen (spelling's definately off.) There's something about Gilliam, he pulls fantasy off well.

I liked Big Fish. I thought it was quite fresh and brazen in a world of sequels and licenses. No, I wasn't moved by any of the tales either, but I'm not moved by many films so that didn't surprise me.

I feel the same way about Eternal Sunshine as robyn does. All of Charlie Kaufman's movies have a strong effect on me. Eternal Sunshine was so refreshing and unique. The "in his mind" sequences were outstandingly well done. As with Being John Malcovich and Adaptation, I felt really inspired after seeing Eternal Sunshine. Confessions of a Dangerous Mind was a little more "normal" for Kaufman, but still was an awesome film.

gondry did some hokey things in eternal sunshine, but the writing was so damn good, it's the best movie i've seen in a few years.

Kaufman is one of my favorite screenwriters. Eternal Sunshine, visually speaking, was the coolest movie I've ever seen. It was so creative and refreshing. It flew way under the radar in my opinion.
