OH baby am I ever psyched! Not only did Spy Kids 3D come out this week (F all of you haters, those movies would be the "S"
if you were 10 and you know it! Robert has done genius things withthat little franchise, plus its HD and in 3-D) but later
this year, "Once upon a time in Mexico" will finally be released.
For those who dont know it is the third (and supposedly
final) chapter in his "El Mariachi" Trilogy. It was the first film he shot in Hi-Def (even before SK2) and I had read some
bad press after some test screenings. Most said it was a "Mindless action flick.." So what? Most are. They made it sound like
it looked bad (and perhaps it did before some post work. It was his first time with HD) but the trailer is out, and I gotta
tell ya it looks pretty kick ass. Johny Depp weilding 2 Mac 10s cant be all bad.
yeah tizzy, this movie looks bad ass. i saw the trailer earlier in the week when it posted on apple's site and was prayin'
i'd get to see it on the screen before bad boys ii last weekend. and you're right, so what if it is a mindless action flick.
el marachi changed hollywood with it's $7,000 budgit and desperado followed that up with a superb movie and, from the looks
of the trailer, once upon a time in mexico looks to top the all. robert rodreguiez is one of the most creative guys out there.
i can't wait for mid october! (btw, the best scene in the trailer is antonio banderes cocking the neck of the gutiar--and
yes i can't spell for s)
Ah, Alas! September 12th, you better believe I'll be the first one in line at the theaters. I've been waiting for this movie
so long, but didn't know the trailer came out.
Oh my god! Just saw the trailer and it looks amazing! I can't wait for
this film to come out! I've already got the "El Mariachi/Desperado" DVD, but looks like I'll be adding another addition to
the collection...
I love El Mariachi and Desperado....but this movie, judging by the trailer, looks like it has TOO MUCH STUPID ACTION...I know
I'll enjoy it...but what I feel made Desperado great was the violence was made to seem cool and "semi" realistic....but this
one has Antonio Banderas swinging down sides of buildings with Salma Hayek flying through the air and screaming, (showed 2
different times) so I don't know...plus the scene where he drives the motorcycle into the back of that car, jumps off, and
lands in the seat seemed too stupid for me. Plus Quentin isn't in it...
I think El Mariachi is like the Terminator
trilogy...the first one was low budget and started a cult and changed film...the second one is like a remake and second insallment
in one, then the third is pure action.
But I KNOW i'll probably enjoy it...but I know I'm gonna shake my head in a
"Rodriguez, what were you thinking...?" way...
I also didn't really like the trailer....it already gave away too much.
okay. robert rodriguez blows. From Dusk Till Dawn was unbelievabley awful, and i love Tarantino and Kietel. Desperado
was decent at best, it had over-the-top violence and gore to the point where i just turned it off (and yeah, thats a lot coming
from BigBudgetPlease who loves Bay and watched Bad Boys 2 twice!). The Sky Kids stuff is good, for kids movies, i guess... His
latest could be good though, Depp is the man and i feel bad for Banderas after that Original Sin fiasco...

Cripes this looks rad. I don't care if it does look a little over the top. Matter of fact, that's pretty damn rad. I like
seeing my action stars flip into convertables from a motorcycle, it's rad. Also, look at the credits, Mickey Rourke, Will
Dafoe, Danny Trejo, and Depp, Hayek, and Banderas; and even Enrique Inglasias (alright, we would better off without him). A
minor detail I enjoy, notice he doesn't call it a "Robert Rodrguez Film," but rather a "Robert Rodriguez Flick." Kinda let's
you know what you're getting yourself into.
Ok, I bringing this back to life because I missed alot of responses.
One yes it did get several bad reviews, especially
early on when he had private screenings. So what! You cant go around talking as much "S" as Robert has about tyhe film industry
and where its headed and NOT get haters talking smack about your films. I wil clear this up in advance. It is not Ctizen Cane.
It is not One Flew Over the Cukoo nest. It is a balls to the wall action flick. Period.
Now am shocked, horrified,
dare i say stunned that someone could be an ubber Michael By fan and NOT like Roberts film. In the world of action movies
Michael Bay is like a company robot assembling carbon copies of what has worked before. Robert still tends to keep things
fresh. Desperado was ok??? He made that flick for $7 Million dollars. Look up how much Bad Baoys 2 cost to make. I can assure
you it is quite a bit more than the $28 million Robert made Once Upon A Time for. My God, he returned $10 mill of the budget
on "Once" becaus he didnt need it. Who else does that? NO ONE!
I just dont get it. Dusk Till Dawn was a brillant
Vampire film. In all honesty I found the opening to be even more interesting. I almost wish it had been a film without vampires
just to continue on with what they had going.
Oh well. I can appreciate certain things about Michael Bay, but he
relies on someone else as his DP. Someone else as his Editor. Robert does it all and is actually quite good at it. My thoughts. R.

some friends have sene it on monday, all had the same opinion: visually great, storyline sucks and it is so obvious that the
film is shot digitaly. however, the digital thing does not hurt the movie
all in all, quite good reviews, cant wait

i didn't much like El Mariachi for its story, but for the way it was made for the amount. Really cool.
Desperado was
kick ass, period.
Once Upon a Time in Mexico is just topping on the cake
one thing i dont get though...the actual story behind
the story...he's out to exact revenge for the murder of his wife or something...um, that person from El Mariachi wasn't his
wife...or did I miss something when reading the subtitles? Then in Desperado it's his brother that was at fault...ummm, what?
And now? I really don't get what's up with that...ie, what is Banderas' real motive. Explanation please.

Think of it as Evil Dead I & II EXTREMELY CONFUSING BUT HAS AN EXPLANATION.
Ok, in El Mariachi the main character (El
Mariachi, go figure) gets a girlfriend, at the end she gets shot and dies. And doesn't El Mariachi kill the guy who killed
her? I think so, if not, doesn't matter.
So then in Desperado (sorta like a remake, but sorta like a sequel) El Mariachi
returns and is out for more revenge for some reason. We get the idea that El Mariachi is pissed off at the drug lord he killed
in the first movie, so after he kills the one in the FIRST movie, he's going for the rest of that guy's crew. I think the
guy in El Mariachi worked under the guy in Desperado (But they arn't the same person cause in the dream sequence/guitar credits
we see the original bad guy from El Mariachi pulling out cigarette's) Holy shît I'm confusing myself.
Basically, I
don't know. Tizzy is more of a Rodriguez fan than I am, maybe he has the answers. Help Tizzy!!!!!!!! SOME ONE PUT UP THE "TIZZY"
SIGNAL!!!! Like Batman ya know?
ehe well I m going to see the film cause of the kinetic style and all that. I dont think rodriguez is a good writer or has
a vision that attracts me...but he is so stylish

Ok, the story. It was his girlfriend in the first and he did kill the guy who did it.
In Desperado it turns out that
guy was just a pawn of a much larger bad guy. Feeling that man is responsible for his GF death and the loss of his art (in
shooting his hand) he feels he has nothing left but vengance. When he meets Salma that changes. At the end he tosses the case,
then comes back and says "Just in case"
From what I understand the new deal is Johny Depp black mails him into taking
out a guy who is supposedly going to murder the President of Mexico. Of course it turns out Johny is using him as a pawn,
which pisses him off. Let the blood spilling begin. R. Michael
