Well, you could find a copy of the non-special edition Star Wars Trilogy VHS tapes released a few years before the special edition came out, capture them on your computer, and then burn them to DVD.
Unfortunately, Lucas is not releasing the non-special edition of Star Wars on DVD.
It kind of sucks, but I guess ol' George likes them better the new improved way.
i just watched the VHSs a few months ago (funny - i used to love star wars, not i think it's kinda pathetic ) - it'll be interesting to rent the DVDs and see what George thought should change.

i still think the originals are fantastic. There are laserdiscs of the trilogy floating around. A friend got all 3 for like 10 bux about a month ago. Ebay has the laserdiscs for about 115 now. thats as close to digital as youre gonna get. That is until Lucas releases the originals in about 5 years so that all the poor suckers who bought the altered set, and purists like myself will have to run out and buy them and shower George with another Tsunami of cash. That last sentence is just speculation though, maybe the unaltered cuts will never see the light of day again.
