Wow, I'm not a horror film fan, but I really liked it. It was a horror film with a great sense of humor. The CG and the matte paintings were pretty bad, but it had great suspense and otherwise interesting visuals. And it had the woman (that I love) from "Go" in it. Definitely worth seeing.
I don't like to admit it, but the trailer I saw with Big Fish for Dawn of the Dead really, really creeped the bejesus out of me. But isn't this supposed to be a fun B-movie zombie flick? Or even a true remake of one?

It hasn't come out here in PC, but I am looking forward to it. It actually looked smart and creepy. I liked the cinematography that I saw in the preview. But it is going to have to do a lot to beat the best zombie movie of all time, 28 Days. YE AH!!! If you thought 28 Days was kick ass say YE AH!!!

It's definitely not a B-movie. It is a remake of the original 1979 film with liberties taken. The screening I went to was of a workprint with a temp soundtrack (hopefully the music doesn't change because I really liked it). I think it gets released two weeks.
Im a huge George Romero fan. so Im hesitant to see this. but Ill check it out. but it will never be has good as the orginal classic wich I belive is the best zombie movie of all time. 28 days later was good. but I didnt like the ending, to happy for my taste but a good film non the less

Yes, but it was totally not what I was expecting. Because a lot of the time, zombie movies have bad endings. Oh and my friend said that the alternate ending oon the DVD was sad and gruesome, has anyone seen it?

The USA Network (I think) is going to show the first ten minutes of D of the D - uncut at 8:00 on Monday night during some type of promotion for the movie.
It should be great!

hey, what dvd is it on, because the special edition one I watched the other day didn't have any sort of alternate ending, just trailers and a commentary?
joren, maybe you should look through the menus a little more carefully, theres a lot of good stuff on that dvd. (like three different endings and one never shot ending) im pretty sure theres only one full screen and widescreen dvds , but they should have the same stuff on it.

Oh My God! This has to be one of the most amazing movies I've every seen in my life. The opening is by far the best opening ever! I thought at points this movie was going to cop out and go down some shitty hollywood exit, but it just kept getting better and better. It's true, don't bother about the credits, but the ending is so perfect. I loved this movie so much. Any fan of 28 days later or any zombie movie must see it. I knew right away when the credits started up at the beggining, Johnny Cash playing over news footage, that I was in for a treat. Amazing.
****SPOILERS**** Don't read if you aren't wanting to hear about specific movie events.
Yeah, I was also pleasently surprised with this movie - it had some really great moments. I particularly enjoy the ending - I was expecting a cliched helicopter to swoop down and save them from the island....but no. Oh man - when Andy shot down Leno and Reynolds I was laughing my ass off. Hahaha.
I haven't seen the original yet. I am interested in hearing what those who have seen both have to say about it.
Im goin see this movie with an open mind. if I like it Ill admit it but as far as Im concerned nothing will beat the orginal. anyone who hasnt seen the orginal I reccomend checking it out. that was the movie that inspired me to be a filmmaker

If you're going to see this, stay through the credits. **Spoilers**
jarmusawa, there actually are three different releases of DoD DVD. Here they are.
I saw the remake before I watched the original, but I liked the remake better. And I was very glad the remake stayed true to the original ending, where everything isn't okay–when I saw they made it to the island I was getting really disappointed ... until the last few seconds. Good times. In the screening I went to, the audience broke into applause when "Leno" gets clipped. Very funny.
What a great movie. I think the big problem with Horror films as of late is you eithere have Horror fan directors who dont have a clue how to make a watchable movie, or a slick music vid director who does'nt understand horror films. Zack's work rminded me of the good ole days of Sam Rami. A good director who understood and enjoyed the genre.
The trailers dont do this film justice. Strong story, good acting (for the most part) perfect mix of humor, genuine suspense and horror and just the right dash of gore. I dotn want to overhype it but go in expecting a basic cliche horror film and be pleasently surprised. R. Michael

I AGREE! this movie was the $hit. the opening title scene looked damn close to one of my pieces and even used some of the same footage. if i had amnisia i might think i directed it.....

I'm not going to knock it because I know it's very hard to make a film. But here're the pros and cons I caught upon viewing... And, yes, I'm aware that this is a remake... I haven't seen the original/read the screenplay to the original... so, to me, it's an original movie... With that in mind.
Pros 1. Realistic opening 2. Realistic gore - no spraying B.S. 3. Decent acting 4. Not a pretictable ending. 5. Very nice sense of humor (as mentioned) 6. Andy (what a shame) 7. Music was nice. Love that version of The Sickness. Haha.
Cons 1. Andy (what a shame) 2. The random change in shutter speed towards the end of the second act/climax. 3. Reminded me too much of 28 days later in the end. 4. They were stuck in a Mall the entire time... where was the character development...
There're many more good things and bad things about this movie.
I found it interesting for a while but then it cooled down (too much) then picked back up.
Will there be "Day of the Dead (2005)"?
This line should have been in the movie:
"Hit Jessica Simpson, see if he can hit Jessica Simpson!"
Peace!
I recommend Dawn of the Dead and give it a solid B.

I find this one interesting, because personally, I noticed significant character development. In particular, I noticed a huge shift in CJ's character from beginning to end. What about the friendship gained between Ken and Andy? I don't know - I think for a horror film it had a lot of interesting character work.
