I saw part of Old Boy and it was really really cool. And yes, it's true, they're remaking yet another Asain movie shortly
after it was released in its native country. This seems to be a new trend. That new movie, "THE GRUDGE," is being remade with
the same director, same evil kids (yep, so little time has gone by that the evil kids from the original are STILL kids, hence
being able to be in the remake), etc. Is it a good idea? I don't know. It sounds kinda dumb in theory, but I guess time will
tell. What I do know is: As far as movie trivia goes, this little info will someday win someone a washing machine on a game
show. Which director made the same movie twice? And there you go.
For Old Boy, it's being remade by the director of
BETTER LUCK TOMORROW. From what I saw of Old Boy, and from seeing B.L.T., the movie will suffer a great loss in amazing style
and creativity and gain a famous American actor and a bigger budget.
Maybe they should just do it the old fashion way...like
what they're doing with HERO. Add a little something called SUBTITLES and leave the film as it is.

The thing that pisses me off the most is peopl who complain about the subtitles on foreign films, I figure they're all illiterate
and can't read anyways, but I like to point out how it was the 10th viewing of Fellini's 8 1/2 before I ever read any subtitiles
because the visual image is more important, plus I've only watched "The DReamers" in french or italian or some other language
and it's still one of my favorite films.
