Hey I know it's not a film and just a teaser trailer, but this seems to be the only section fitting to discuss the new teaser trailer for Star Wars Episode III. I'm just wondering what you guys thought about it. I personally loved it and watched it about 300 times, my favorite part is when Palpatine says "Lord Vader.... Rise" and then the first shot of Vader rising kind of like Frankenstein, I was blown away (especially since I'm a huge Star Wars fan).. Let me know what you guys thought

I watched it twice (just in case I was mistaken the first time) and I think it looks like the same piece of **** those other two prequels were. I'm probably the only person here who wishes Lucas would have stuch to making good films like "American Graffiti" hey?

I got burned on the last two. I thought the trailers for those were good, then the movies were pretty awful. Same things happening again. I really liked the teaser trailer, especially that lord vader part, so i'll be a sucker and go see # 3, but I dont have much hope for it. (Seeing the vader costume against all those streamlined cg stormtroopers and robots, makes him look kind of clunky. Also i hate hte poster with the cape forming vaders face, ugly)

I was personally very dissapointed. I thought that maybe they would break away and do something really unique with this really dark story, but it appears we're back to visual effects. "Ewwww...ahhhh..." It's a pretty nice ride the first time on a new Star Wars movie, but there isn't any substance to them like the original trilogy. Lucas needs to try getting into more story and characterization and less effects in these new ones. But too late for that! Also, I really didn't like Darth Vader's voice. Sorry, I know I'm picky, but it's different and I hated it.

here's another mirror link.

i was quite unimpressed by that trailer, which is odd because i usually really like the SW trailers (whether or not i like the films.)

we'll see what they do. too much stuff looked totally fake. even vader coming up looked like a game cutscene.

Am I the only one who likes the new trilogy? Personally, I think it's just as good as the original trilogy and 100 times better than Lord of the Rings (which is painstakingly boring, but then again so are most 87 hour movies, except for Godfather II), however I understand why a lot of people don't like it..But it always seems like I'm alone in defending the new trilogy, are there any other true believers out there??

the thing is - the new series looks fake. everything about it looks like plastic and bluescreen. its shallow. and we didn't mind with the old ones (which actually look a little more real) because they were old. the whole thing is lacking depth, character, do you kind of see what i mean?

no matter what it'll never be the best trilogy, cause we all know the greatest trilogy is... Sergio Leone's "The Man With No Name" Trilogy (aka. the "Dollars" trilogy) starring Clint Eastwood, and that's not even taking "Once Upon A Time In The West" into consideration!

You know a lot of people have debated over this issue, and it is just stupid. First of all, if there was CGI back when Lucas released the first trilogy like there is now, he would done those like these. But he was forced to use models and other nifty tricks. And you know what, I like them a lot more. CGI is getting old. LOTR's used it, but they also used many other tricks. The problem with the new movies, is they have NO depth. They're just a big overpriced CGI show. Is it fun? yes. Is it classic film material that will be known all over the world? no. I watched the old films again yesterday, and I was reminded about how awesome they are. Why are they awesome? Because (lucas you need you hear this) they are about characters and depth!!! In the new films I'm constantly distracted, it's like Lucas thinks everyone has ADD and he's trying to get your attention every two freaking seconds!!!!

END

Yes, I totally agree. Lucas was forced to add character and depth to the original trilogy because he was lacking in FX technology.

This is addressed to Al, who posted earlier about LOTR. I don't mean to be up front, but I must be when people start bashing LOTR. How could you be shallow enough to not realize atleast the cinematic quality of Lord of the Rings? At the least you should realize that they're an incredible filmmaking landmark! Otherwise, I don't know how you'll ever get anywhere in film. If you can't appreciate good film when you see it, you're never going to make any. You may not enjoy the films, I realize, but don't criticize them just because you don't enjoy them. We all have different tastes.

My opinion is that Lord of the Rings is boring. However, I have always said I admire the amount of time, skill, and work went into making them. I just didn't say it in my post because I was focusing on Star Wars. And basically all that has been done in this discussion is people "bashing Star Wars" just like I did to Lord of the Rings (even though I just said it was boring and didn't rip it apart like people do to the new Star Wars trilogy. If other people can bash Star Wars (which I like ) why can't I say something about Lord of the Rings? However, like I said, I do think it was well done, just not my cup of tea. Return of the King was fairly good though

The reason Episodes 4 - 6 were better then all the others is because Lucas didn't make them!

Its as simple as that. He had someone else write out the scripts and someone else film them. Lucas was just the producer.

Lucas is not a writer, he's a special effects guy. I think 1-3 would be a lot better if he just had someone else write the story and then Lucas directed it.

However, I am stoked abot DV (Darth Vader) coming back! Even if its only for a little while.

Did you guys notice how the ships in the trailer looked like X wings and Tie Fighters?
