I just saw this last night and let me say this: I loved it. It was one of the weirdest movies I've ever seen. It is definitely brilliant.

Jim Carey did a phenomenal job. It's hard to even think that it was Jim Carey up there on the screen. It felt like it was a person that looked like Jim Carey that can really act!

If you like weird movies (Being John Malcovich, Adaptation), see this movie.

If you're looking for a classic Jim Carey comedy, do not see this movie.

It was great and Jon Brion's score made it that much better. I was surprised at how serious it was. Go Michel Gondry, you f***ing crazy b*tch French genius. Charlie Kaufman too, you f***ing crazy b*tch non-French genius.

Are you serious? I think Jim Carrey is a fantastic actor. He's done some stupid comedies (because that's his specialty, and he's damn good at it), but he's done some serious films in which he did a great job (The Truman Show, The Majestic, etc).

Why was it Rated R though? "Fraiser" episodes have been more offensive.

This movie lived up to every expectation I had for it, and more. Visually speaking, it was the best movie I've ever seen. The special effects blew my mind. The cinematography, the unorthadox lighting, it was frickin perfect. The soundtrack, direction, acting were all amazing. And of course Charlie Koffman is a total nut, I don't pretend to know how he comes up with these crazy movies. I have nothing but good things to say about this movie.

I didn't mean to say that Jim Carey isn't a good actor. I just worded it wrong. I do believe he is a good actor. I was trying to say that Jim Carey did such a good job that I forgot that it was Jim Carey, but I guess it did come off sounding like he wasn't a good actor.

Hands down the best film of the year.
Just [EDIT] brilliant

[[[[[[[No Swearing Please]]]]]]]]] - Admin

The innocent, ingenuous, and just all too realistic love; the, at most, subtle performances (with suprises like the beautifully shallow and pathetic Elijah Wood, to the dim cherub of Kirsten Dunst). The way the characters played victims to their own subconscious, and the intimate imagery and it's several polar opposite juxtapositions (an obvious yet approriate metaphor to the relationship; snow & sand) this film had me smiling throughout.

And it wasn't the elitist smirk that I elicit when viewing Kaufman's other work, the kind of nonchalant grin of "I get it" or "heh, that's clever" usually following (or simulatneously while) a sagely nod; it was smile of movie mystism and wonder. I loved every single nuance of this film. Although some scenes were too ambigiously obscure and obtuse, Gondry's child like(in the most positive connotation ever) and kinetic imagination shed a new terrain into Kaufman's work. The film requires more emotional gravity than Kaufman's previous efforts, which makes it so much more purposeful. Now Kaufman's scripts don't have to be as insecurely self contained or tyrranical, he can trust the performances and the director, which makes this film as ambitious as aesthetically pleasing. I echo how resonant it is, this may be one of the best (if not the best) romance(s) ever made.
