This movie is a bit hard to follow and gets slow at some points, but overall It is a GREAT movie. They make it so true to life that I was completely blown away! Not to mention the sweet camera shots and the creative way they took the time to rewind the scene several times to see the same time frame and how it effected each of the three characters... you will know what i mean when you see it... check it out!!!

Dare to be diffrent... dont give in to the "norm"

This is one of the worst films I've ever seen. But there are such things as differences of opinion, but I'm gonna have to strongly disagree with you on this one. The rewinding of the camera was so f*cking annoyoing. All the characters were cliched stereotypical "college" kids. Funny thing is that not all college kids are like that. The dialogue was pulled out of Avery's ass. He's such a Tarantino wannabe. The only good part of the movie was with the two guys with their mom in the restaurant. That was funny. But weird thing about that... it was taken directly from the book. I could go on and on about how much I hated this movie but it's not even worth my time, so I'll stop now.

I'm with you on this one Mike, I loved Rules of Attraction, although plenty of people don't. I thought it was hilarious and I'm a sucker for stuff that takes place in the 80's (ie. Donnie Darko). I think the characters are supposed to be steriotypes and at the college I went to there were alot of people like that. Easton Ellis's stuff is so love it/ hate it. I happen to love it.

I'm not saying it is or is not true, cause really, I don't know and/or care...But is Avery a Tarantino wanna-be or is Tarantino a Avery ripoff? Avery and Tarantino worked together on Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction..and I think he did a little for Jackie Brown (???).
I guess we'll see with KILL BILL, an Avery free Tarantino movie.
Either way...

Avery was only credited for "stories" in Pulp Fiction and got an Oscar. If you go to Avery's website you can actually read the original Pawn Shop Rape written by him, it's obvious that Tarantino took the scene and made it brillant with dialogue & such.

Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, True Romance, & Natural Born killers were once just ONE BIG SUPER SCRIPT by Tarantino and Avery called, "Pandemoniumn Reigns" but was then "cut up" and turned into those movies. A lot of scenes in Tarantino's scripts were originaly written by Avery; The "magic bullets", blowing off someone's head in the car, pawn shop rape, & most the story of True Romance. It seems to me Avery came up with some brillant scenes & Tarantino "took" them and turned them into brillant pieces of work. I'm sure if Tarantino had done "Rules of Attraction" it could have been a lot better...since Avery can't write dialogue "Seinfeld" style (About Nothing dialogue)

Kill Bill's Script

Dunno if you knew about it or not. I liked it, put on some atmosphere and give it a read.

Neither Avery or Tarentino are rip offs of the other. They were just 2 talented writers who worked well together. I think it is pretty obvious that both guys have quite a bit of talent based on the stuff they have done seperatly.
