BURBANK INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL PANELS AND SEMINARS

CASTING FOR FILM & TELEVISION: ADVICE FOR ACTORS, DIRECTORS AND PRODUCERS
Casting Director and Acting Coach, Melissa Skoff has over 100 feature film and TV credits to her name, including JAG, THE DUKES OF HAZZARD, BLACK RAIN and THE GOLDEN CHILD. She has also lent a helping hand in the early success stories of such stars as George Clooney, Jennifer Aniston, Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn, Robert Downey, Jr., David Spade, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and Bill Engvall, just to name a few. Ms Skoff will be joined by Randy James, partner in James/Levy Management (James Franco, Rachael Leigh Cook, Corbin Bernsen) for a frank discussion about casting, auditioning, and other issues relevant to actors, directors and producers from the perspective of the casting director, manager, and agent. Audience Q&A to follow.

MAKING YOUR FIRST FEATURE: WHAT DOES IT REALLY TAKE?
Award winning Director, David Winning has 13 features and 20 series on his resume of over 90 credits including ANDROMEDA, ABC’s DINOTOPIA, and STARGATE: ATLANTIS. Mr. Winning will lead a discussion with a panel of experienced and first-time filmmakers whose work is screening at the Burbank International Film Festival. The panel will offer honest accounts of their own gritty realities of independent filmmaking from securing the financing to their most intense experiences on the set, good and bad. Burbank International Film Festival Official Selection filmmaker panelists will include David Winning (BLACK SWARM, SWAMP DEVIL), Conrad Janis (BAD BLOOD… THE HUNGER), Richmond Riedel (TARGET PRACTICE), Conrad Janis (BAD BLOOD), Wayne Gurman (BRONX PARADISE), and Sean Solimon (DJINN). Audience Q&A to follow.

SPECIAL MAKEUP EFFECTS FOR THE BIG SCREEN
The Academy Award winning principals of Burbank’s own Drac Studios have an astounding list of film & TV credits including THE CURIOUS CASE OF BENJAMIN BUTTON, WATCHMEN, BRAM STOKER’S DRACULA, THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST, TITANIC, MRS. DOUBTFIRE, PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN, TRAILER PARK OF TERROR, and many, many more. Todd Tucker, one of the two Creative Directors of the world class Drac Studios team of special makeup and effects artists will display and discuss their amazing work, sharing with the audience some of the tips and tricks used in creating their part of movie magic. Audience Q&A to follow.

COMPOSER AND DIRECTOR WORKING TOGETHER: A CONVERSATION WITH JOHN DEBNEY and GARRY MARSHALL
Academy award nominated Composer John Debney is one of the most sought after composers in Hollywood. Debney has proven his versatility with films ranging from blockbuster comedies such as ELF, LIAR LIAR, and BRUCE ALMIGHTY, action adventures like THE SCORPION KING and SPY KIDS (1 & 2), to dramatic features including I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER and SIN CITY as well as his landmark score for THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST. Legendary director, Garry Marshall (THE PRINCESS DIARIES, RAISING HELEN, RUNAWAY BRIDE, BEACHES, THE FLAMINGO KID) has chosen to access Mr. Debney’s talents for many of his films. The Burbank International Film Festival’s Director Of Educational Seminars, Alan Brewer (Film Producer, Composer/Music Supervisor) will lead an in-depth conversation with Mr. Debney and Mr. Marshall, examining the working relationship between director and composer, looking at the challenges a composer faces while working to support the director’s vision, and exploring many aspects of film music composition. Examples of Mr. Debney’s work will be presented and an audience Q&A will follow the discussion.
