Hello everyone,

I'm trying out a new look and design for the forums. Please let me know what you think.

Also, you can now embed your YouTube and Vimeo films on the forums in the Short Films forum.

To embed, make sure you wrap the embed code using the following tags:
<html> </html>

Personally I like the "active forum threads" on the left area. It's easier to read. and if you change the background that is something that is not as glaring, it would rock the world.

Which background do you not like? The white around the forums or the grey-ish color behind the text?

earlier it was the blast of pure white as the main background. I notice that it's grey now which is much better. I would have to admit that the website seems to only occupy the center of the webpage. Didn't it use to kind of wrap around the screen? anyways, great stuff. i'm starting to get used to the new theme so it's awesome.

I like it, but I'm with Mike V, I prefer the active topics on the left. It's a great way to check really quick if any of the topics I write on have changed.

Like the newest members part!

My biggest request is an easier way to know there are new PMs. I never notice.

Unfortunately there's no way for me to change that - that's built in to who wrote the software.

One way to see if you have PMs is to turn the e-mail notification on.

Re the topics on the right... I like it. Not sure how it's any different than on the left... but the design is still being tweaked.

I can give you a scientific explanation as roughly told to me by my cine professor.
Look at a blank screen. now imagine a train running from left to right
now imagine a train running from right to left.
which train is going faster?

there is a high chance that it's left to right. this is due to the brain's process. most people tend to notice things on the left. Hopefully that would change your mind.
p.s. no I'm not messing with you. we really did that experiment in class and it does seem like the train runs from left to right faster.

Not necessarily the orientation, but just how many more threads were listed when it was on the left.

It would be awesome if the links are on the left. it's technically easier to read.

I'm digging the new layout. The other combination color was definitely harder to read than this. Also with the new, it's easier to navigate through the forums. Just my 2.

Made a slight tweak with ads and the short films list on the left and new topics on the right.

Also changed the number of active topics listed on the right to 20 from 10.

See post re Studentfilms.com relaunch. The old films are accesible on a link there for the next few months. The old site was getting outdated and it was time for a rethink.

I'm sorry, I was in a hurry yesterday and should have written a more detailed post. I am a Media Production teacher at a high school and have used your site for 4 years, showing the great college and independent films. I have even used your site to help my seniors decide about college film and video programs around the country. So I really appreciate this being here and the ability to right click and download the films with Quicktime Pro. Our internet is completely blocked so I can't play any video except your site. But our internet streams so slowly that I can't play the films in real time so downloading was wonderful. The bad thing is my external where I had them crashed. So yesterday I went to your site to get them again as we are doing movies. I was able to get one but then the site was unavailable. It's still not working today and says internal error. So I would love to use it alittle while longer if possible and again, my students and I really appreciate it!
Thank you,
Nancy Sutton Smith
Media Production teacher
