I'm new here to the forums, but I have been doing a bit or reading, and in turn I have become overwhelmed with information. I am currently finishing up my junior year of high school and am looking into Chapman University, SVA, and Columbia College Chicago.

My GPA is in the 3.7-3.9 range and I scored a 2010 combined on my SATs and a 31 on my ACT. My extra curriculars are probably my weak point, as I have only participated in a couple of small film festivals, and my school has no video/film related courses or clubs, so I have nothing to show in that area. You can view some of my portfolio (still in progress) here: http://www.vimeo.com/thallfilms

I realize this has probably been asked many times, but I would like to hear from others as to my chances of being accepted into the film programs at the schools mentioned above. Thank you in advance.

I enjoyed your work.
If that's unweighted you're probably solid for just about any school. You could even look at USC or NYU.

Hey Tanner,
Your portfolio is very very impressive!! And you have strong grades. I'm attending Chapman University next year as a film production major, so I just went through the long process of applying to colleges.

Film is very competitive. No matter what research you do, there is never a specific official ranking of film schools. There actually has never been an official ranking. USC, NYU, and Chapman are probably the three best funded film schools. They are in superb locations, and have an extensive network of successful filmmakers. You should definatly apply to those three. For production majors the acceptance rate is 3-8 percent, depending on the school.

Also, UCLA, and Columbia's film schools are supposed to be very strong. I'd really love to talk to you more about this. I LOVE film and I LOVED applying to film school. Please email me anytime if you have questions.
