I'm going to bring up this topic because I think it's needed. A lot of people don't talk about this film school, but it is extremely competitive and hard to get into. Almost everyone that comes from this program succeeds in the industry. I heard for every 500 applicants, only 20 are accepted. Does anyone else know about this school or has heard anything?

I've heard of it. It brings out more succesful actors than filmmakers: Wesley Snipes, Ving Rhames & Edie Falco vs. Filmmakers Aaron Sorkin, Nick Gomez & Danny Leiner. It's true most people are succesful but they go to theatre or videos for TLC. Those who go to film are few but they have a great acting program.

Purchase is the town in New York where the school is, Xeon; nothing funky goin on.

It might be a great place, but if film school is all about making connections (which i think it is) then upstate new york isn't the place to be.

Actors? What actors?

true- it's in a ****ty town. But where you make all of the industry connections are through a. your teachers and b. your internships. the teachers there i heard are great- and some highly respected directors in the industry teach there (or at least retired ones). purchase is a 25 minute ride to the city. you have your internships in nyc and that's where you make the connections. has anyone else applied there?

I'm definately applying here. Good reputation, short ride from NYC. Plus even if I get into NYU I might not go due to the cost. I also like how their admission process works.

I heard about it recently for film school, I only knew of actors coming out of there. I am not sure if it's so strong for filmmakers. I haven't seen them win a student academy award yet. Most all of the well known film schools have. 500 applicants only accepting 20 is not bad at all. There are some film schools have as few as 30 spots and over 3,000 applicants.

They've actually won three. You ought to know what you're talking about before you put down a school like that.

It's also not in upstate New York like people seem to think. It's in Westchester county.
