Ok so I live in Australia & I'm in my last year of high school, and I want to apply to UCLA's School of Theater, Film and Televison. I want to study screenwriting but I can't find which degree I'm supposed to pick on the website. I plan on going to university in Australia next year, then apply for UCLA, and transfer if I make it. So I would be an undergrad transfer. (...right?...) I'm looking at the programs list from the drop-down menu and I clicked on screenwriting but that's only for graduates. Then I clicked on Undergraduate Film, Television and Digital Media and it says the deadline for all materials is January 29 2010. Which means I can apply at the end of the year (i.e. in early November after I finish school in Australia). But then it says, 'The Bachelor of Arts in Film and Television is a two year, upper division program for students who have completed two years of general college studies. We do not admit at the freshman level.' Which means I HAVE to go to university? Is that what it means? I am just so confused as to which program I should apply for & when. And if anyone helps me work it out - could you also post a link to the criteria/requirements if there are any (e.g. completed blah amount of school, gone to uni, etc.). Also, if it's possible, please explain things like 'credits', I have no idea what it is because we don't have it here. Thanks in advance

I know this is a bit of a late response, but hopefully it's still helpful. What they're saying is that the way the program works, your first two years are general studies (math, history, etc.)- the things everyone university-wide has to take. Then you apply for your 3rd year & if you get in, your last two years are in the film program. So you'd have to transfer after 2 years, not one. I'd talk to the school though & make sure your credits will transfer.
