Any significant differences between Emerson College and Loyola Marymount University for Screenwriting?

My son has attended one year at Emerson and has been very disappointed in it academically. He repeatedly says he "didn't learn a thing". I sense that Emerson is excellent if you want to focus solely on film or screenwriting projects, but if you're at all academically oriented and interested in intellectually stimulating courses, I'd go elsewhere. Loyola is my son's first transfer choice. Besides, Los Angeles is the industry center.
