Hey, I'm a high school junior and I'm looking for good film schools. I love the city, unique things and a freethinking enviornment, so of course my #1 dream school is NYU. I would ABSOLUTELY LOVE to go there.

I'm also looking into Chapman, FSU, Boston University, USC and LMU. Although I visited UCLA and really liked it, the film program appears to be a joke for undergrads so I've nixed it.

Any other ideas? Reccomendations? Views about the above mentioned? So far NYU is the only place I can truly see myself going to.

The School of Visual Arts in NYC has a strong undergraduate program.

CalArts, if you're interested in experimental or animation.

SUNY Purchase is a state school about 3o minutes away from nyc. It is a very artsy, freethinking school with many competitive art programs, including film. Temple University also has a strong film program and is right in the heart of Philadelphia. Hofstra University (about a 20 minute train ride from NYC) also has a large program for broadcasting and film, though I don't know how competitive they are. Montclair State University, in New Jersey (but about 20 minutes away from NYC) also has a competitive film program. Sarah Lawrence (Yonkers, NY) and Fordham (Manhattan) also have more alternative types of film programs.

by the way, i am a senior in high school, and i'm going to attend NYU in the fall. I know about these schools because though NYU was my #1 school, I wanted to be open-minded about looking at other schools.

I have gripes with schools that don't let you get into Film until junior year.

What are the pros/cons of the above mentioned schools?
