Welcome to Studentfilms.com, the online film discussion forum for filmmakers and students who are applying to film school, attending film school, need advice on making films, or just want to share their films with the world.
I have been planning on going to film school for a long time. I have graduated High School and I am staying back for a year. Well, It might change if I find a school for Fall, or Winter. Or if not, then wait until next Fall.
I live near Toronto, Ont. I want to go in the film business as a Director.
Looking for a school in Southern Ontario region, or somewhere far. I wouldn't want to go somewhere 2-3 hours away as I'd rather live at home and not pay rent. Or somewhere far, where I need to pay rent. You know what I mean..
What school would you recommend? I would LOVE to go to NYFA, but its way to expensive. 1 year, $34,000 + living. That's like over $50K. Since most offer a diploma and it doesn't matter on what school, just your skill and experience. What would be best?
I been on a tour to TFC(toronto film college) but, its extremely small. like half a floor of an office building. And I was told it has great equipment, but it seems you dont even use any film camera, at best learn about them. I Believe. It didnt seem that good.
Haven't seem Trebas, also teaching film. Going on a tour tomorrow possibly.
But, they both have decent tuition. Approx. $17K.
VFS, is also something like $34K + living, which is still a lot, but it is going to be cheaper than NYFA, as it is in Canada. $34K for a year... :S I would consider it..
Also, how much does it cost @ the Univ. of California?
What would you recommend?
Other things Im looking for: - Not only to teach me about film, & Directing, but teach me/show me how to look for and get a job in the industry.
*Not looking to go to University or College. Just a school related to film.*This message has been edited. Last edited by: DDirector,
