I am 17 and really need an idea of what I'm getting into. What do I need in respects to a portfolio, writing piece, visual piece. What are some options for an east coast restricted student with few few c's and more high b's and a's?

Thanks!

There's Emerson in Boston. And, on a slightly more prestigious, expensive and selective note there is NYU in New York. Emerson is a great school, and I highly recommend either.

Check out their sites now, for the portfolio requirements. It's nothing drastic (10 minute demo reel, some kind of dramatic writing usually).

Good luck!

Whats NYU looking for in respects to grades?

I had friends who got into NYU as transfer students with grades way below 3.0 GPA...they did well in a small college freshmen year...anmd they had ****ty portfolios.

I believe NYU looks at your essay and your personality the most. I might be wrong though.

To tell ya the truth, I don't know. I was homeschooled, so I didn't have grades. Smile NYU isn't as academically obsessed as, say, the Ivy League schools though. Give it a shot!

You could go the private route and pay $30,000 a year. Or you could try to get into some great public schools such as the University of Texas.
