No, and trust me, you wouldn't want to. Black and white is fine on paper because the paper isn't shining the white into your eyes, unlike a computer monitor. The black works because your eyes aren't being bombared by the bright white of your computer monitor. Give it a chance if you haven't already, you'll get used to it and finally understand that it's a better choice for design anyway.

yeah, that's why if you've ever4 been to Maddox's website you'll see the same reason, and I would not want it changed, because the forums especially require reading,a nd for some of us who are at the grade 2 level (myself included) it can hurt the eyes.

I agree that dark on light is better... maybe not black on white, but dark grey or black on light grey or some other color.

The only thing you could do, if you know any css is to write a custom style sheet for the site and use a browser which allows you to override site css.

Chris said ( i think) that this would be fixed in the next launch.

If you have a Mac, you can invert your monitor's colors with

ctrl + option + cmd + 8

still not the best palette, but it's dark on light at least.

I didn't know you could do that - it's pretty trippy.

From a design standpoint, frankly, as much as I like the site, it's hideous.

For legibility the jet black isn't perfect either. I'd use #999999 text and a #666666 background for ease on the eyes. Two grays are waaaay better.

I agree with Kiernan, although I like a higher contrast—#ccc + #666 or #333?

You're totally right, Sonia: #cccccc on #333333 looks great.

I'll look at redesigning the forums for legibility. I'll take any suggestions.
