I'm an Animation student, requiring a soundtrack for my final project next year. The piece will be around 2 or 3 minutes in length, most likely in traditional, 2D style. I don't want to give everything away here, but it's a simple story about a small child and their toys, set in a typical English family home in the mid to late 1950s. What I will say is that for the most part, it has a happy, light tone - it begins with some exciting news, but towards the end there is a moment of deep disappointment and quiet sadness, followed by a surprising twist and a happy ending.

Here are a couple of tracks that have a vaguely similar sound to what I'm looking for...

UP - Married Life
The Magic Riddle - Music Box

And a short Christmas cartoon, to demonstrate the kind of general style I have in mind...

On Christmas Eve

If you're interested, I'd really appreciate it if you could put together something rough for me to listen to, ideally covering the different emotions I outlined. And if you're some kind of genius, maybe you could give it a subtle 1950s quality? It might be worth looking at some cartoons or animated commercials (British if possible) from that time, to see if there's any kind of definite musical style to speak of.

After hearing what you've come up with, I'll put together an animatic so we can figure out the timing for the final soundtrack. No immediate rush, but if I could have this pretty much sorted by about October, that would be great.

I hope somebody can help - I can't offer payment, only credit for your work and my eternal gratitude! I don't have much previous work I can show you right now, only a group project - I mainly worked on environmental stuff (background paintings, animated curtains, etc) and also character/costume design...

BACKSTAGE

Hopefully this final project will be just as much fun, and will have an equally great soundtrack!

Best wishes, Daniel

Hi Daniel!

I have sent you a PM but thought I'd give you a shout on here also in case you pop here first.

I'd love the opportunity to work on your project. I'll get some ideas down and see what you think!

Hello Daniel!

If you're still looking for a composer for your project, here's some of my music for you to listen to.

I'm currently scoring a short film called "Shifting Lives" In which Christmas plays an important part and so there are a few cues that sound quite "christmasy"

I recently posted a couple of short clips of the upcoming soundtrack I'm working on, you can listen to them here:
http://derlisgonzalez.bandcamp...oundtrack-sneak-peak

There's also another album with various pieces that I wrote a while ago, give them a listen if you can. Maybe you'll find something interesting: http://derlisgonzalez.bandcamp...of-derlis-a-gonz-lez

And, just for fun, here's the soundtrack to another short film I did a few months ago. Completely not the style that you might be looking for, but perhaps you'll hear something that might be of use to future projects of yours: http://derlisgonzalez.bandcamp...-original-soundtrack

If you hear anything you like, drop me a line at derlisariel@gmail.com

All the best with the completion of your project!

Derlis

Hi,

You contacted me previously about scoring music for your project.

I had not had the chance to put a pitch together for you yet - I am just wondering if you have found a composer yet?

Regards

HI,

If you need any soundtrack stuff I am more than happy to get involved and have very cheap rates. or a lot of royaltry free music which is even cheaper. Yes there are people who will work for free but they are usually either inexperienced or rubbish, however I promise I will try to help out in any way I can and work within pretty much any budget
