I'm an Animation student, requiring a soundtrack for my final project next year. The piece will be around 2 or 3 minutes in length, most likely in traditional, 2D style. I don't want to give everything away here, but it's a simple story about a small child and their toys, set in a typical English family home in the mid to late 1950s. What I will say is that for the most part, it has a happy, light tone - it begins with some exciting news, but towards the end there is a moment of deep disappointment and quiet sadness, followed by a surprising twist and a happy ending.
Here are a couple of tracks that have a vaguely similar sound to what I'm looking for...
If you're interested, I'd really appreciate it if you could put together something rough for me to listen to, ideally covering the different emotions I outlined. And if you're some kind of genius, maybe you could give it a subtle 1950s quality? It might be worth looking at some cartoons or animated commercials (British if possible) from that time, to see if there's any kind of definite musical style to speak of.
After hearing what you've come up with, I'll put together an animatic so we can figure out the timing for the final soundtrack. No immediate rush, but if I could have this pretty much sorted by about October, that would be great.
I hope somebody can help - I can't offer payment, only credit for your work and my eternal gratitude! I don't have much previous work I can show you right now, only a group project - I mainly worked on environmental stuff (background paintings, animated curtains, etc) and also character/costume design...
I like the sound of your project, if you have a look at my youtube channel, (www.youtube.com/jammonk001) and look at the Junk Planet video you can see one of the cartoons i had to put some music to for a college assignment. Hope you like what you hear
If you're still looking for a composer for your project, here's some of my music for you to listen to.
I'm currently scoring a short film called "Shifting Lives" In which Christmas plays an important part and so there are a few cues that sound quite "christmasy"
And, just for fun, here's the soundtrack to another short film I did a few months ago. Completely not the style that you might be looking for, but perhaps you'll hear something that might be of use to future projects of yours: http://derlisgonzalez.bandcamp...-original-soundtrack
If you hear anything you like, drop me a line at derlisariel@gmail.com
All the best with the completion of your project!

If you need any soundtrack stuff I am more than happy to get involved and have very cheap rates. or a lot of royaltry free music which is even cheaper. Yes there are people who will work for free but they are usually either inexperienced or rubbish, however I promise I will try to help out in any way I can and work within pretty much any budget check out http://www.cameronmusic.co.uk for more info.
