I am looking for a short film (15-20 minutes) to compose the music for on a voluntary basis, for my Liverpool John Moores University Audio and Music Production course. I have composed music for various projects before, including a BBC Radio drama, and my own short films:
Did you found anyone to compose for yet? If not, I'm looking for someone to make a score for the short film I just finished, but I would first like to hear/see some sample of your work.
Yeah, I've also just spent the past year voluntarily composing the music for an independent feature-length film, but it isn't on my YouTube channel because it hasn't been released yet (and it would be too long for YouTube anyway). And I was lucky enough to compose the music for a BBC radio drama earlier this year.
I've since spoken to someone else about their film, and I'm meeting them on Monday. But until I see it I don't know if it'll be the right kind of thing or not.
Do you know how long your film is going to be? And when it'll be finished? And what kind of music you are after?

My films runs about 13 minutes right now. It might run a bit longer once I'm completely done with editing. And it might end up running less, too. It all depends which way my editing takes me now, really.
As for the music, I actually have most of the film covered. The middle part is done by Bjesovi, an alternative rock band from Serbia. The portion of the film that I need score for is the ending scene where my main character leaves the hospital (+ ending credits). Originally, I used Dead Can Dance's "Host of Seraphim" to cover that part, but it is just too much hustle to obtain the copy rights for it, so I finally decided to look elsewhere for the score.
If you can provide me with an adequate address, I'll send you the part that I'm talking about. But I must say, "Host of Seraphim" intro was just perfect for it, and I'm really looking for something similar to that, something that is both dramatic and uplifting.
I'm, however, very open to new ideas, and taking that I like your approach/score, I'm not excluding possibility that I would let you cover the whole thing for me, from the beginning to the end. As a matter of fact, I'm encouraging you to do the whole thing, but naturally, I'm gonna use it only if I feel it fits to my story.

Ok, probably best if I meet his guy on Monday seeing as I already agreed to do that, and see what's going on with him, especially if you've already got most of the music you need anyway. And then if I don't want to do what he's got, and if you feel like you would like a complete re-write or just another soundtrack version, then we can sort something out.

As I said, I wouldn't mind you covering the whole film, from the beginning to the end, but naturally, in the end, I will chose the soundtrack that best fits my needs. I think that is fair. That been said, I encourage you to do the whole thing, but yeah, talk to that guy first and then, if you still feel like it, come back to me and I'll see to sent you my current edit.
